It may sound nice to be stuck on a Greek island during the COVID lockdowns of 2020. But, for Joel David Bond, that was not the case.

Bond is the author of the book, “As Large as Your Spirit: A Reverse Refugee Memoir,” in which he chronicles his experience of being in lockdown on a remote Greek island and working alongside other refugees in the area to return back to his “adopted
“The concept came from the premise of the book. I’m a man from the West, caught on this remote Greek island in the Mediterranean, trying to get back to my adopted home in the Middle East. While I was there, I met these refugees from the Middle East, coming over to Greece, and trying to get back to the West. The ‘Reverse Refugee’ part comes from my perspective of trying to get back to a place where all of these refugees come from. The overall theme of the book is about trying to find a place to call home – not just in a geographical sense, but in a personal, spiritual, heart-level sense.”
